DCM constituted “DCM Educational Society” in 1954 to maintain `Delhi Cloth Mills` Middle Schools for Boys & Girls – being run at Delhi- Kishan Ganj, Delhi- and Swantra Bharat Mills `Primary & Middle School at Najafgarh Road, Delhi. Later these Schools were upgraded to Sr. Secondary Schools. In the year 2000 SBM School was separated to be run by DSCL.

The Schools are run by a Governing Body consisting of at present 10 members. All members of the Governing Body are nominated by the DCM Educational Society.

DCM Boys Sr. Secondary School and DCM Girls Sr. Secondary School function as per provisions of Delhi School Education Act & Rules 1973. The Schools have their independent managing committees comprising 15 members, as per detail given below:

The Schools are aided by Government of Delhi & receive 95% Grant for teachers salaries etc, and some grant for expenses on telephone, furniture, Electricity etc. The rest of expenditure is borne by the DCM Ltd.- i.e. 5% on salaries etc. and on other heads.

Chairman of Governing Body is also Chairman of Managing Committees of the Schools. His duties are to preside over the meetings of Governing Body and Managing Committees, be the Chairman of Staff Selection Committee / Departmental Promotion Committee, the Disciplinary Authority and to sign letters of appointments.

Manager is the Representative of Managing Committee and his/her duties include: to upgrade the educational standards in the Schools, to develop systems for better administrative controls and financial disciplines, to plan & organize seminars & workshops for teachers to improve teaching-learning processes, to create better appreciation of Management's role and approach towards company's commitment to education in the eyes of Dept. of Education. to assist the Management in fulfilling its obligations in effective functioning of schools, to supervise the work of Head of School, to convene meetings of Managing Committee, to correspond on behalf of Managing Committee, to sign all cheques jointly with Head of School, to exercise control over expenditure and proper maintenance of School accounts.

DCM Schools cater to the lower income strata of the society. There are approximately 900 students on the roll in both the schools in different classes. Both Schools are running in New School Building by having Girls School in the morning shift and Boys School in the afternoon shift

Career counseling sessions are arranged to help our students choosing right course of studies and right career.

Dept. of Education is planning to revive computer lab. As soon as we receive computers and faculty, computer education will be started again.

To improve the academic graph of the students is the main objective of the schools. However for all round development of the students, number of activities are conducted in the schools.

Sports and Functions

Our students take parts in the most of events in Zonal Games, Such as Wrestling, Chess, Bad-Minton, Drawing Competition, Race, Throw Ball, Volley Ball and Kho-kho and secure good positions.

The schools celebrate National Festivals, Teacher Day, Bal Divas and organize other various activities like farewell party to XII class students, Inter House Competition, Games in Bal Sabha.

Other Routine Work in the Schools

  • Mid Day Meal is distributed to the students of class VI to VIII by Deptt. of Education under the supervision of our teacher incharge.

  • Disaster Management
  • Mock Drill for evacuation of the building is conducted time to time in both Schools. Phone numbers of the police stations, nearby Hospitals, Chairman, Managers and Principals are displayed at prominent place to be used at the time of emergency

  • RTE
  • The Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education Act or Right to Education Act (RTE), is an Act of the Parliament of India enacted on 4 August2009, which describes the modalities of the importance of free and compulsory education for children between 6 and 14 in India under Article 21a of the IndianConstitution [ 1 ] India became one of 135 countries to make education afundamental right of every child when the act came into force on 1 April 2010.

    We have formed a committee in both the schools consisting of parents and teachers according to guidelines of the ACT. Committee meets at regular interval to discuss important matters relating to students. We provide free education up to VIII standard.
